The Kia Ora Sauvage Rangiroa
|
|
The Kia Ora Sauvage is an extension of the Kia Ora Village and is set on a private islet ( motu ) in the southern reaches of the Rangiroa atoll, less than an hour away by boat and a million years from civilization. There are no sign of human presence within 20 miles of this hideaway. The Kia Ora Sauvage is an exquisitely picturesque small and private island with only five comfortable bungalows -- each luxuriously built exclusively from local materials. Each of the 5 bungalows features a king size bed as well as a daybed, and a spacious separate bathroom with a shower. They are well spaced from each other and offer total privacy. From the moment one sees the crystal clear turquoise waters and sets foot on this dreamlike motu, a special feeling overtakes you, a sense of utmost peace and also of excitement at being alive in these extraordinary surroundings that seem to belong only to you. The couple who flawlessly manage this exclusive hideaway will discreetly help you discover the joys of being in touch with a totally pristine nature. At your own pace, you can choose to paddle an outrigger canoe, go fishing, discover the reef, snorkel with manta rays, or wade to nearby deserted islets ... or just laze the day away in a hammock rocked by a gentle breeze. You can also go along to help catch the fish of the day, or may be the conch of the day, or whatever your cordon bleu hostess will request for your exotically elegant lunch or evening feast. As night falls after a gorgeous sunset, romance will be enhanced by the soft glow of the oil lamps brought to your bungalow, and as you mull over the meaning of life from your private terrace, you can watch the torches being lit on the beach already bright from a night sky of extraordinary clarity. Note: purposefully, there is no electricity at the Sauvage... but, there is hot showers. You can plug-in your cameras/ipods at the restaurant to recharge them. But there is no phone or internet. Meals are always gourmet, with a variety of beautifully prepared dishes served on a big table on the beach or in the fare dinning room. To be at the Kia Ora Sauvage once in one's lifetime means never to be the same again. It means realizing the dream of escaping from time and feeling an unforgettable communion with nature's beauty and greatness. Published rate: $850 per

...This is an amazing place
where exotic dreams of a romantic adventure become reality, and childhood South-Seas
fantasies can be experienced in a true desert island paradise. A first class concept
with first class service. The best tropical island experience anywhere in the world! To go tot the Kia Ora Sauvage you don't have to check out of the Kia Ora, it's part of the hotel, so you don't need to bring all your luggage, check most of it at the hotel and bring only an overnight bag with a few essentials. Hop into the boat for a 1-hour trip across the lagoon. ...The Sauvage, 20 kilometers across the lagoon from the Village, was outrageous. If you want to get away from civilization this is the spot. Jeremy, the quintessential Polynesian man, was the staff leader at the Sauvage. He did it all and the other couples we met there were great fun. By the time we left we were all so close that we all had lumps in our throats when we got on the boat. One French lady cried and she was only there one night. Jeremy and his staff work there one month straight and then the Village one month. I had to get my wife out of there or she may have run off with Jeremy.
...Sauvage is an experience that I would do again. I took hundreds of pictures there. If you want to escape go there. ...just returned from 12 days in FP. We stayed 6 nights each at the Kia Ora Sauvage in Rangiroa and the Pearl Beach Resort in Manihi. My comment....WOW!!! The Sauvage was like staying at Gilligans Island with only 3 other couples on the whole motu. The Pearl Beach in Manihi is TRULY a class act with only 41 bungalows and all the peace and quiet you will ever need..! We have been to Bora Bora, Moorea' and Huahine as well in the past few years and have enjoyed them all...BUT...these last two atolls and the hotels and staff on them out-classed the others by far!!!
..then we went to the KO Sauvage, and
you are right; it is an indescribable place and we had such a good, relaxing
time there (3 nights). I did go spear fishing with the guy but we were not
very lucky and I didn't shoot anything (he did). I've discovered that I am
still able to windsurf there as well (a bit that is). We also had a nice
group of people there, and appreciated the social setting (being alone, but
yet eating together). We will definitely try to go back there one day, when
we need to stress out ! |
