...The Pearl is very nice and you will not be disappointed. I am not so sure about the garden bungalows they seemed at bit condo ish, if you get the drift. The deluxe beach bungs were great for our families. I loved jumping into the sand in the morning with my $8.00 pot of coffee. I was not overly impressed with the OWB when we checked them out. That being said. The snorkeling was really, really great around this area. We have been St. John fanatics, which if anyone understands snorkeling is the best in town, even over HI, however, we were totally impressed with the sea life and coral. No it does not compare with STJ, but it is a different type experience. One that is catered to the honeymooners and not a traveling family with 9 people. Let's just say, we made an impression with that many kids. These are really nice people here and very proud of their islands. Respect there beliefs and bring some of it home. Oh, and please don't do the dolphin thing,it is so sad that they are captive like that. We saw pods on our last morning and were in awe.

...We just got back from a week at the Pearl this morning and had a wonderful time. We stayed in a garden bungalow which was fab. The OWB didn't look all that amazing and as the snorkeling at the pearl is not so great I didn't see the point in paying all that money. For the last 2 days we had really bad rain and were happy not to be in a OWB. A couple who were told us they were scared with the sound of the rain and the waves.
However, the food at the Pearl was awful. We had a package including our meals and by the 4th night we went else where as we couldn't face the hotel food again.
The Intercontinental and the Sheraton had much better snorkeling and if we were to go again and stay in an OWB it would definitely be to one of those.
We went to the Intercontinental one day to do the "walking on the ocean floor" and were very impressed.

...I just got back from my honeymoon and cannot say enough good things about the Pearl resort in Moorea. Our experience was amazing!! Our OW bungalow was beautiful, the pool was large and amazing and the food at the restaurant was great. I had heard that the Moorea Pearl had recently hired a great chef - the results were evident!!! The people were so friendly and the location was very convenient. We were able to walk to "town" in less than 5 minutes for the grocery store a bank and lunch at Le Sud - which was a very nice restaurant.
On our excursions, we saw most of the hotels on the Island. In my opinion, they are all nice. The Intercontinental was too large for my taste, but is perfect for some. The restaurants will gladly pick you up from any hotel, so that is not an issue.
I would recommend anyone strongly consider a visit to the island of Moorea - what a terrific experience!! The island and it's people are truly wonderful. I think you won't go wrong with any hotel.

....Pearl Beach Moorea-Beach bungalow. This resort was intimate and pretty, but the grounds are so small(no room to go for a walk)but I found the landscape very pretty and colorful, which was a nice surprise since everyone had said it was sparse. The staff was perfectly friendly and helpful, and the bungalows are roomy, airy, and quite lovely. We found the island of Moorea to be much more lush and green than the others, and reminded me much of Hawaii. Moorea is not about the water like Bora Bora, and even Tahaa, but much more about the island itself and mountains. We took an inner island 4x4 tour, which was educational, exciting, and a tad scary. This was definitely an adventure, and the tour operators were very informative. The hike to the waterfall was glorious. We also enjoyed the time on Magic Mountain, and visiting the pineapple plantation, and the distillery(where we enjoyed 15 shots :)
The Pearl Beach was very accommodating with my food issues, and we enjoyed a free polynesian show at the resort very much.

...A short 15-20 minute flight and we are back on one of our very favorite islands. First stop was the Pearl Beach Resort.. The overall decor is rather plain and nondescript and the extensive use of sandstone throughout the common area doesn't make for a very Polynesian ambiance. The beach is fairly small and faces the typical rows of overwater bungalows.
We were shown to our Deluxe Overwater" bungalow (the ones facing the ocean) - pleasant decor, a fair size but of course modest by comparison with the other bungalows we had stayed at in Tahaa and Bora Bora. The bathroom was smallish with a tub/shower combination which was rather impractical. The deck was small and could barely accommodate the length of the deck chairs. The resort seemed to be in an area of the lagoon with some current and the water below our bungalow was not particularly inviting in that it was deep and dark. Some other areas seem to offer better snorkeling opportunities. But our bungalow seemed to be much better off than those located in more shallow water (the "regular" Overwater - facing the beach) as the water surrounding them was somewhat murky.
The hotel has an (infinity - of course) pool above the beach, but with very little view of the lagoon as it basically looks out onto the rows of overwater bungalows (this seems to be the latest trend with all the new hotels: pack a maximum number of overwater bungalows, and too bad for the view). The open air restaurant is located at the edge of the large white stone area around the pool which reflected an almost a blinding light as the sun beat down on it.
The resort offers the normal range of activities and excursions and have a small activity desk poolside from which to get snorkeling gear, etc.
There are also Garden Rooms in the back of the property, Garden Bungalows, Deluxe Garden Bungalows with a small wading pool in front, Beach, and Deluxe Beach.
