...The Motu was awesome ...they meet you on the dock playing the ukulele and singing. They know your names and take you bags to you room. If Nano greets you - she is the best, she will do anything for you. But when we got there we sat down and she explained that an airline went on strike and they couldn't get people off the Motu and that our OWB was taken and that we had to stay in a Deluxe Bungalow, Which it was over the water somewhat and we had fish swimming under us. The rooms are all the same nice and clean. Nano was very nice and refunded us the cost difference between bungalows for the two nights and we decided to put it towards activities.

...We soon moved to the OWB and trust me ...splurge and do it. You can snorkel right off you bungalow and the water it great! If you can ask for #128 that's the best OWB they have. You get to see the amazing lagoon and the sunrise. Where as if you were on the other side you'd see the boat dock and sunset, you decide.

...The staff remembers your name and room # so if you plan anything they just right all your info down and you sign. The Activities desk is so nice you look at their book of things to do and tell them the time, they call right then and book it. Easy as it gets. In fact we went to eat lunch on day and said that we wanted to go jetskiing that day, by the time we were finished with our main course the tour guide was already there.

...Basically it was amazing, the island it's self was pretty. You absolutely have to do the 4x4 on Bora Bora and ask for Joe... He speaks English very well and is hilarious. Scuba diving- DO IT !!! If your thinking about getting certified do it you'll love it. Sharks and Manta rays are awesome I swam with a Manta BIGGER than a king size bed no joke. It's a MUST.

This place was picture perfect. The Sofitel Motu private water taxi took us straight to the 3 acre private motu that belonged exclusively to to the Sofitel Motu. The motu only has 20 overwater bungalows, 6 beach bungalows and 3 or 4 tree house bungalows. The main area is where the restaurant is/ reception area to plan any excursions.

As our water taxi pulled up to the pier we were greeted with a Tahitian playing the ukulele and singing. A Tahitian lady welcomed us with cold towels and refreshing fruit drinks to help us cool off. We went for it. We booked the Overwater Bungalow. It was well worth the extra $$. Inside the bungalow is made up of teak furniture with hardwood floors. There was a king size bed, a TV,phone, mini bar, a desk, a sitting area,a three foot in diameter hole in the floor covered by glass to see the fish swimming, ceiling fan and air conditioning. The bathroom was beautiful. Black slate floors, a his and hers sink and a shower head that was mounted on the ceiling of the bathroom which once it was turned on it felt like it was raining on you when showering. The water pressure was real strong and I believe it was soft water. Lets talk about the outside. A fully covered deck with 2 tables and 2 chairs and further on there were steps that lead to the open sun deck with 2 chairs. Furthermore there steps from the sun deck leading down to crystal clear water. We picked out the best overwater bungalow. #114. The water was about 10 - 12ft. deep with a huge rock in front which attracted a lot of fish. This bungalow was located at the end and had the best views, privacy and very quite. The temperature would reach close to 90 degrees F and cool off at night to 75 degrees F. It was humid but that was ok because the South Sea Breezes would cool things down quite a bit.

Here are a list of some of the activities we did.
- Went scuba Diving through Nemo Dive and saw huge Manta Rays. We were not certified but the instructors pretty much held our hand through the whole experience. We dove only 18ft for 25 minutes and that was fantastic. There were only 5 divers including myself. That cost us close to $100
- We went on a private motu tour. Included was our own boat with private tour guide.
- We went shark/Sting Ray feeding, snorkel in the coral gardens, snorkel with the rays,a private beach picnic in the water and a complete island tour. That cost us $400
Bora Bora is really under developed compared to a Maui. There is really no night life, condos or high-rise. You go there to relax and enjoy this amazing scenery.
The food at the Sofitel Motu was great. A typical meal cost $140 which included 2 salads, 2 entrees, 2 deserts and a bottle of wine.

BORA BORA - There we were at the Sofitel Motu. WE LOVED THIS PLACE!!!!! What luxurious surroundings we had and the room was terrific. We were in an overwater bungalow that had a view of Bora Bora's main island and we could view the sunrise every morning. That was my favorite time of the day - the sunrise was so beautiful and peaceful. That is when I would write in my journal about the wonderful experiences I was having. The room was superb as I said before - immaculate with a mini fridge, toiletries such as a loofah, shaving kit and toothbrushes, a patio with chairs that stepped down to a layout deck with two lounge chairs, the stairway down to the ocean for snorkeling with a shower right there to rinse off, and of course - the glass on the floor to see the fish along with a light for viewing them at night. The shower was awesome. It was a huge shower head that felt like you were standing in a tropical rain storm. Wonderful! The AC worked but not very well, but it was still better to have it than not. The food there was delicious - I highly recommend the Mahi Mahi in the Huahine vanilla sauce. We did the outrigger canoe here as well and paddled to a nearby motu for a picnic lunch. The shark feeding excursion was neat to see and so was swimming with the sting rays. Outside of our excursion package we did a sunset cruise on a catamaran which was wonderful. The 4x4 is not to be missed - nor is Bloody Mary's. We both loved Bora Bora and had a magnificent time there. And the stars at night!!! Be sure to spend some time with your sweetie gazing and the beautiful night sky.

...I would recommend not staying in 111. The rest of the OW bungalows have great views of the main island. The two bungalows next to 111, 112 and 114, are directly on everyone's way to the coral gardens (but do face the main island, not the motu), so you'll get lots of kayakers and snorkelers coming by, but if you want to be on the end, those are the two room numbers. The hotel has a relationship with Nemo world, which is about 1 minute by foot from the Sofitel Marara (the Motu's sister hotel across the lagoon). Nanou, the hotel manager, can set everything up for you. They have dive schedules for Nemo world at the reception desk. Katia, at Nemo world, speaks English, as does Francois, the instructor we had. The manta ray dive is a good beginning dive -- fairly shallow, and the giant manta rays are great. If you stay in an OW at the motu, trust me, you will have a fantastic time.

This property is wonderful. The bungalows are constructed of all local materials (woods, pandanus thatched roofs, woven mat walls) and they are completely civilized (big shower, separate WC, Sofitel brand coconut soaps and lotions, etc.) As honeymooners the hotel had prepared a fruit basket and a gift pareo and t-shirt for us upon our arrival. As a Motu guest you have access to all the Marara facilities on the main island. The Motu, however is completely stand-alone with its own registration/concierge desk, dining room, and activities. To get to the main island all a Motu guest does is request a boat shuttle, which runs on a regular basis and by request. It's a 3-5 minute trip between the Motu and the Marara. The Motu has the best snorkeling on the island since the back side of the Motu is untouched and with only 40 rooms on the Motu very few people tread over there (although several snorkel excursions from other vendors do take trips there). Food - very international. Lots of fish (especially sashimi and "poisson cru" - excellent!!). Overall a great dining experience. We purchased a meal plan and were quite satisfied as the dinner options around the island were more expensive and frankly were more tourist-oriented, which didn't highlight the local food products as much as the Motu. Plus there was a show of some sort each night. Service was sometimes less than attentive, but a smile and a wave go a long way towards getting what you need.
