The beach is spacious and very nice. Food was good. the staff was very friendly and helpful. the weather was perfect. wish i was back there... ...We just returned from Bora Bora in January 08 and stayed at the Sofitel Marara. We stayed in an OWB and it was just wonderful! We loved it there and had no problems. Maybe it was the time of year but it was very quiet there! Everyone was so helpful. We also had nice air conditioning in our OWB. The deck on our bungalow was very nice and had very nice lounge chairs for relaxing. We didn't make it to the Motu to compare but I have no complaints! I would recommed the Marara to anyone! ..I stayed at both the Marara and the Motu, and I also would highly recommend you try to move to the Motu, even if you can't get an overwater bungalow there. I would rather stay in one of their treetop bungalows, then stay in an overwater bungalow at the Marara. The Marara is not a bad place, its just not the caliber of the Motu or some of the other resorts on Bora Bora. I stayed in an overwater bungalow at both places, and you can't compare them. I would say the worst thing about the Marara is you don't have a great view, which you do have at the Motu - probably the best in Bora Bora. Otherwise Marara's a good place, the bungalows are spacious and new, they have AC and all the amenities, and the snorkeling around them is very good. To sum it up the Sofitel Marara is a good resort, just not as spectacular as the Motu or some of the newer resorts. We stayed in a beach bungalow at the sofitel Marara in July 08 and were very pleased with this resort. The location is excellent, next to shops and restaurants, the beach is large and the bungalows well spaced-out so there was plenty of privacy. Their decor is very nice and upscale and the bathrooms are beautiful. The new spa is cool and we enjoyed the treatments. This is not the most fancy resort in Bora Bora, but it's and excellent value. |
