Set on Motu Toopua across the village of Vaitape, the Bora Bora Lagoon Resort was the first resort built on its own island in the lagoon. It is designed in a "grander" style than the other resorts, with large lobby area, restaurant and other common building.

Bungalows:
The bungalows are quite large, averaging 580 square feet. Each is built in fare style with pandanus roof, bamboo walls and polished yucca wood floors. Handsome, hand-carved, heavy, base beams dress the exterior of each bungalow. They seem to float below the bamboo walls and no two are alike. Each bungalow is also designed with an open side, created by panels of wooden louvres, which affords access to the prevailing breezes and filtered light. The bungalow's 'blind side', a textured bamboo wall, is the bed wall.

Sliding glass doors lead to a private terrace furnished with two teak chaise longues and accompanying cocktail tables. A ladder leads from each overwater terrace directly into the waters below. The bungalow's interior design reflects the intention to create a modern, tropical environment which is strongly residential in feel. This is especially evident in the sitting area, which has an interesting handmade desk and comfortable rattan easy chair with accompanying hassock.

Overwater bungalows have glass-topped coffee tables offering easy access for fish feeding, and each is equipped with an underwater spotlight which draws fish to the area directly below the viewing glass. A central closet area marks the passage between the living and sleeping areas and the bath. Along with ample hanging space and a built-in drawer unit, it also houses a refrigerator, mini bar, coffee service and personal safe. The television, another reminder of civilization which many guests choose to ignore, is discreetly installed in an armoire and mostly used to show videos for those relaxing.

The bathroom is airy, fresh looking and oversized, with separate tiled shower and tub as well as a separate w/c telephone. A long, polished wood counter holds double sinks, each of which has a mirror framed in carved coconut husk. A built-in hairdryer saves electrical conversion dilemmas.

There are two one-bedroom suites. One is located on the main beach and has a private Jacuzzi attached (Suite 200). The other suite is located on the other side of the Hotel in the garden (Suite 100). The suites are ideal for a family with small children, as they can be accommodated under one roof, yet the parents can still have some privacy.

Motu Bungalows - As you step from your private bungalow deck, Motu Bungalows offer direct access to the beach and surrounding lagoon.

Premium Motu Bungalows - These premium bungalows are similar in size and layout and offer premium beachfront locations.

Motu Suite - Each beachfront suite features a large bedroom, separate living room with daybed, deck with the ultimate private garden and plunge pool for your personal use.

Overwater Bungalows - Offering breathtaking views of Mt. Otemanu or the setting sun, each overwater bungalow features a private sun deck with steps for direct access to the lagoon below. As night falls, greet the fish and other sea animals that swim and dance for you under your bungalow, easily viewed from above through the illuminated glass-topped coffee table in your bungalow.

End of Pontoon Bungalows - Six bungalows are located at the end of each teak pontoon offering the utmost in privacy and unobstructed views of Mt. Otemanu and the surround blue lagoon.

Villa - The ultimate beachfront accommodations is just steps away from the shore offering a stone-tiled living room from where you can view Mt. Otemanu through the sliding glass doors. The two bedroom villa includes luxurious bathrooms with natural stone colored tiles with a shower, separate bathtub and private slate-stone outdoor shower, and also offers a private infinity-edged pool surrounded by a wooden deck and garden.

Restaurants and Bars:
At the edge of the lagoon, the dining room features continental cuisine with a distinctive Polynesian influence and an emphasis on fresh seafood. In this formal dinning room, the hotel requires "proper attire" such as long trousers for gentlemen and dresses for ladies. Only children over the age of 10 will be admitted, suitably dressed and under adult supervision. Reservations are required.
Dinner: 19:00 to 21:30.

Café Fare
Surrounded by tropical gardens, and guarded by an ancient tiki, this exotic, outdoor café has an informal, poolside atmosphere.
Breakfast: 07:00 to 10:30. Lunch: 12:00 to 15:00
Afternoon Tea: 15:00 to 17:00. Dinner: 19:00 to 21:30

The Hiro Bar
The Hiro Bar is open only in the evenings from 18:00 and comfortably seats 50 people. It is situated perpendicularly to the Otemanu Restaurant and opens to the lagoon and to the pool and gardens. Seating ranges from bar stools to long sofas and comfortable wicker salon chairs, covered in predominantly blue-green fabric to capture the colors of the pool and the lagoon. Abundant loose cushions in strong contrasting accents of orange, blue and yellow recall the tropical sun. The lighting is intriguing - a combination of bamboo downlights, copper post lights and tall, wicker floor lamps near the couches, all designed to enhance the residential feel of the resort's public spaces.

The Rotopa Bar
The bar is open during the day and services the pool area and both beaches until 18:00 when the Hiro Bar opens. Built as a traditional fare with pandanus roof and fringes, this quaint bar overlooks the pool and is itself a shady oasis from the heat of the sun.
The interior of this fare has been decorated with examples of traditional Polynesian dance costumes - elaborately beaded grass skirts and feathered headdresses. Seating is provided in the form of bar stools. Open from 10:30 to 18:00 for drinks. Light snacks are also available between 12:00 and 18:00. a.

The popular Theme Night Buffets are an occasion for dining under the stars accompanied by local entertainment.

The Tahitian Buffet and Show
The buffet and show take place every Thursday night. If the weather permits, guests are seated outdoors on the terrace of the Otemanu Restaurant, with a fantastic view of Otemanu Mountain. The terrace is semicircular in shape, with several tiers that descend to a fire lit ring of sand where the Tahitian show takes place.

The show is an hour-long spectacle of singing and exotic, rhythmic dances. These include the tamure, a very fast dance accompanied by frenzied drum beats, and the aparima, where the women perform soft, gentle hand-dances, each movement telling a story. The finale is a terrifying and magnificent fire-dance performed by a male trio effortlessly wielding huge wheels of fire. A full orchestra playing traditional Tahitian musical instruments accompanies the dancers and singers.

The buffet features some typical Tahitian dishes, local produce and, of course, fish is generously featured. The buffet is displayed in individual fares decorated with palm leaves and flowers, with at least three chefs in attendance to grill the guests' choice 'à la minute' and to explain the various dishes.

The dress code for guests for the Otemanu Restaurant - slightly more formal, with the men requested to wear long trousers, but not jackets or ties. Staff are always in uniform, which is typically Tahitian.

We Just came back from Bora Bora. Stayed at the BBLR in the OWB #215. I loved it! I didn't get a chance to map out which owb had the best views, but mine had a nice view of Vaitape. I liked our room since it had an unobstructed view. #214 is also an end of pontoon owb, but it faced another row of owb. Also, the #101 series of rooms while they had a nice view of the mountain, they were near the shuttle boats, so you didn't get as much privacy.
You'll love the glass coffee table. THe top slides off so you can feed the fish. There's a light switch near the bed that turns on a light under the bungalow, so you can see at night.
The grounds are beautiful, the pool awesome, but the best part is the fish and the view! The hotel would put out old bread for the guests to feed the fish, which was fun. Nice way to kill time while waiting for the shuttle to take you to town. Don't forget to stop by Chin Lee for beer and snacks.
We booked the honeymoon package so breakfast was included. Very nice buffet, but not sure if I'd pay 25 Euros for it. I can't get over the number of fish that came swimming by our owb. We did most of our snorkeling right off our room.
There were only a couple of things I would warn against. The breakfast delivered in a canoe to your owb was disappointing. The two staff were talking to each other the whole time and the food was just your typical continental breakfast. You might as well, just go to the breakfast buffet. But, it was included in our package.
Enjoy! I would definitely go there again!

...we stayed in an OWB here and it was nothing like the one at the Sheraton. The A/C didn't work very well at all and it was constantly hot and humid in the bungalow. The water around our bungalow was too shallow to even snorkel and the coral around it looked scary and dead. The staff here was very nice, the toiletries were great (kind of reminded me of Bath and Body Works), the breakfast buffets were incredible, and the views were breathtaking. There were a lot of small children staying here and we were a little surprised. We became a little irritated when it was obvious that the parents didn't seem to care that their children were screaming, kicking sand, throwing trash into the swimming pool, etc. I don't have a problem with the kids being there but the lack of respect shown by the parents was ridiculous. Because the BBLR is located on a motu, there is a boat shuttle that goes back and forth to the main island. We rented a small fishing boat for one day and had an amazing time. We went to the Coral Gardens and snorkeled and saw thousands of fish. This was the most amazing place, everywhere you looked there were fish and beautiful coral.

....Bora Bora is a beautiful, magical place. We have just returned from there we spent a week at Hotel Bora Bora and a week a Bora Bora Lagoon Resort the only reason we moved resorts is because Hotel Bora Bora didn't have an overwater bungalow available.
- the food at Bora Bora Lagoon Resort was marginally better and the Overwater bungalows are bigger
- there was no gym at either resort - but there are plenty of activities at both
- I recommend you take your own snorkeling gear - we snorkeled every day was brilliant - you can get your gear at the resort - but we preferred having our own - especially the mouth pieces
- snorkeling was good at both resorts
- both resorts were clean and well serviced
- Bora Bora Lagoon Resort is on a motu so you have to get a shuttle to the island which can be a hassle if it does not fit in with your time table
- At the end of the day, Bora Bora is a very special place and you will have a great time no matter where you stay

...The Bora Bora Lagoon Resort took us by private boat across the lagoon to the hotel where we were greeted with coconut drinks and comfortable place to sit.
Contrary to some reports, our bungalow was ready for us and it was outstanding!!! We were escorted to our bungalow by the english-speaking hotel activities coordinator - a bonus since my husband speaks zero French. Our bed was covered in flowers and there was a bottle of wine and champagne chilled for us on our glass coffee table.
We were situated over the water and we would not have done it any other way. YES, it is expensive - whatever you do on Bora Bora it is expensive....BUT, well worth it. We snorkeled off our bungalow into warm water, fed bread to the fish and heard the ocean all night long...nothing gets better than this folks!!! Breakfast was included every morning but it was nothing to get excited over. We are not big fish eaters, so we ate a lot of fresh bread, which was especially wonderful, and fruit. We ate lunches at Bora Bora Burgers in Viatape across the street from the mini car rental place.

...We stayed at the Bora Bora Lagoon Resort. We found the hotel to be far above our expectations - not only was it clean and in good repair, it was beautiful beyond belief. The artwork, carvings, wall hangings and ever-present flowers, along with extremely comfortable furniture made this the best hotel we've ever stayed in. Add the spectacular view of Mt. Otemanu and very nice service, and it was a piece of heaven on earth. As for the island itself ...There is tons to do! We snorkeled from our bungalow (overwater bungalows are definitely the way to go!) and around coral gardens, went scuba diving with manta rays & large sharks, went on the shark-feeding picnic and a sunset cruise. We also walked from Viatape to Bloody Mary's - about 2 miles - to get a feel for the island and do some shopping.
