Set on Motu Toopua across the village of Vaitape, the Bora Bora Lagoon Resort was the first resort built on its own island in the lagoon. It is designed in a "grander" style than the other resorts, with large lobby area, restaurant and other common building. Bungalows: Sliding glass doors lead to a private terrace furnished with two teak chaise longues and accompanying cocktail tables. A ladder leads from each overwater terrace directly into the waters below. The bungalow's interior design reflects the intention to create a modern, tropical environment which is strongly residential in feel. This is especially evident in the sitting area, which has an interesting handmade desk and comfortable rattan easy chair with accompanying hassock. Overwater bungalows have glass-topped coffee tables offering easy access for fish feeding, and each is equipped with an underwater spotlight which draws fish to the area directly below the viewing glass. A central closet area marks the passage between the living and sleeping areas and the bath. Along with ample hanging space and a built-in drawer unit, it also houses a refrigerator, mini bar, coffee service and personal safe. The television, another reminder of civilization which many guests choose to ignore, is discreetly installed in an armoire and mostly used to show videos for those relaxing. The bathroom is airy, fresh looking and oversized, with separate tiled shower and tub as well as a separate w/c telephone. A long, polished wood counter holds double sinks, each of which has a mirror framed in carved coconut husk. A built-in hairdryer saves electrical conversion dilemmas. There are two one-bedroom suites. One is located on the main beach and has a private Jacuzzi attached (Suite 200). The other suite is located on the other side of the Hotel in the garden (Suite 100). The suites are ideal for a family with small children, as they can be accommodated under one roof, yet the parents can still have some privacy. Motu Bungalows - As you step from your private bungalow deck, Motu Bungalows offer direct access to the beach and surrounding lagoon. Premium Motu Bungalows - These premium bungalows are similar in size and layout and offer premium beachfront locations. Motu Suite - Each beachfront suite features a large bedroom, separate living room with daybed, deck with the ultimate private garden and plunge pool for your personal use. Overwater Bungalows - Offering breathtaking views of Mt. Otemanu or the setting sun, each overwater bungalow features a private sun deck with steps for direct access to the lagoon below. As night falls, greet the fish and other sea animals that swim and dance for you under your bungalow, easily viewed from above through the illuminated glass-topped coffee table in your bungalow. End of Pontoon Bungalows - Six bungalows are located at the end of each teak pontoon offering the utmost in privacy and unobstructed views of Mt. Otemanu and the surround blue lagoon. Villa - The ultimate beachfront accommodations is just steps away from the shore offering a stone-tiled living room from where you can view Mt. Otemanu through the sliding glass doors. The two bedroom villa includes luxurious bathrooms with natural stone colored tiles with a shower, separate bathtub and private slate-stone outdoor shower, and also offers a private infinity-edged pool surrounded by a wooden deck and garden. These include the tamure, a very fast dance accompanied by frenzied drum beats, and the aparima, where the women perform soft, gentle hand-dances, each movement telling a story. The finale is a terrifying and magnificent fire-dance performed by a male trio effortlessly wielding huge wheels of fire. A full orchestra playing traditional Tahitian musical instruments accompanies the dancers and singers. The buffet features some typical Tahitian dishes, local produce and, of course, fish is generously featured. The buffet is displayed in individual fares decorated with palm leaves and flowers, with at least three chefs in attendance to grill the guests' choice 'à la minute' and to explain the various dishes. The dress code for guests for the Otemanu Restaurant - slightly more formal, with the men requested to wear long trousers, but not jackets or ties. We Just came back from Bora Bora. Stayed at the BBLR in the OWB #215. I loved it! I didn't get a chance to map out which owb had the best views, but mine had a nice view of Vaitape. I liked our room since it had an unobstructed view. #214 is also an end of pontoon owb, but it faced another row of owb. Also, the #101 series of rooms while they had a nice view of the mountain, they were near the shuttle boats, so you didn't get as much privacy. |
